The Efficient Home

Strategy, Concept, Design, Layout

Objective: Transform the existing BGE QHEC catalog into a dynamic, magazine-style publication that repositions energy efficiency as an aspirational lifestyle.

Solution: What began as a simple update to the existing QHEC catalog evolved into a strategic redesign, combining editorial storytelling, product integration, and inspiring visuals to engage customers more effectively and encourage deeper participation in BGE’s energy-saving programs. By shifting the focus from products to lifestyle, the publication demonstrates how effortlessly energy efficiency can be woven into everyday living. It also serves as a comprehensive and approachable showcase of all BGE programs in one place.

Designed to usher in a new era of living, The Efficient Home responds to customers’ growing demand for smarter homes and products. Energy efficiency is seamlessly integrated by design, empowering customers to live better lives through the latest technology, delivering both energy savings and environmental benefits.

Launched in Spring/Summer 2022 as a bi-annual publication, the magazine is complemented by a dedicated webpage to extend its reach and impact.

Alternative Design Concept

There’s something special about the culture and people of Baltimore and its suburbs, from the textures of its neighborhoods to the character of its residents. It’s where everyone from dock workers and artists to med students and CEOs all feel a sense of pride in the region’s history, sports, flavors and DIY stick-to-itiveness. This concept embraces all that and presents energy efficiency in ways that resonate intrinsically with the locals who call Baltimore home.
