AdFest 2022

Concept, Design, Layout

Objective: To establish a distinct visual identity and engaging event materials for AdFest 2022, an annual film-festival-style showcase hosted by the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health’s (OSH) Media Campaign Resource Center’s (MCRC). The event serves as a showcase for the anti-smoking campaigns added to the MCRC website each year. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the goal was to reignite interest and drive renewed engagement for the in-person event.

Solution: AdFest 2022 was held in New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz and the inspiration behind the event’s visual identity. Drawing from the bold visual language of classic jazz posters and album art, dynamic shapes, expressive typography, and rhythmic composition, the design captured the spirit of New Orleans while still representing the MCRC and the media formats featured at AdFest, including digital, social, radio, video, print, and out-of-home.

Alternative poster concepts pitched to the client for the 2022 event.

AdFest 2019

Concept, Design, Layout

The 2019 AdFest poster drew inspiration from the recently updated MCRC logo and refreshed color palette launched earlier that year. The design features a bold, graphic megaphone that is both a visual anchor and a metaphor. It represents the MCRC’s role in amplifying anti-smoking campaigns and supporting those who advocate for tobacco-free communities across the country. Vibrant colors, radiating lines, and strong, centralized composition echo the urgency and reach of the message, reinforcing the poster’s function as both a promotional piece and a call to action.
