Airline Passenger Lithium Battery Awareness Campaign
Concept, Design
Objective: To develop a passenger safety awareness campaign for UL Standards & Engagement focused on the growing risks of lithium battery fires on planes. The goal was to increase passenger knowledge and compliance, while establishing a scalable, future-ready program. The campaign needed to engage all types of airline passengers and empower them to make safer, more informed choices when traveling with rechargeable devices.

CONCEPT 1
Travel isn’t just a hobby. It’s a life necessity. And while we dream about the destination, getting through the journey can be a pain. Between over-recliners, armrest hogs, seat kickers, and headphone-free devices, fellow passengers can make for an uncomfortable trip.
Most of us cringe at the thought of being that passenger. We don’t ever want to be the one making the journey more uncomfortable for someone else.
Pitch: UL can help us stay on our best flight behavior by keeping our rechargeable devices safe.

Every time we get on a flight, the rules of normal life are suspended and we enter into a new contract. The most critical safety reminders are visible at every seat.
Except for one.
And safety only works when we know what we’re supposed to do.
Pitch: UL ensures that keeping rechargeable batteries within arm’s reach is part of the safety standards for every flight.
